About this tool
Volume Normalizer adjusts the loudness level of an audio file to a specific LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) target, following the standards adopted by streaming platforms, broadcasters, and podcasting services. The tool includes ready-made presets for YouTube, Spotify, podcasting, and broadcast, as well as a custom value option.
To use it, select an audio file and pick one of the available presets: YouTube/Spotify (−14 LUFS), Podcast (−16 LUFS), or Broadcast EBU R128 (−23 LUFS). If you need a different value, select "Custom" and enter the target in LUFS. Then click Normalize. Processing uses FFmpeg's loudnorm filter, running entirely in your browser via ffmpeg.wasm — no upload, no server, no account needed.
Why normalize? Each platform applies its own normalization on upload, but if your audio is significantly louder than the platform's target, it will turn the volume down and may introduce artifacts in the process. By delivering audio at the correct level, you ensure it sounds exactly as intended for the listener. For podcasts, normalization reduces volume variation between episodes and between different speakers. For radio and TV production, the EBU R128 standard (−23 LUFS) is mandatory in many countries.
