Speed Reading (RSVP)

Train speed reading with serial word presentation. Paste your text and practice.

100% local processing. Your data never leaves your computer

About this tool

The Speed Reading tool uses the RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) technique to display your text one word at a time, at a controlled speed, highlighting the optimal recognition point of each word. This eliminates the eye movement from one line to the next — the main cause of slow reading — and trains the brain to process each word with full focus.

To use it, paste or type your text in the input field, set the speed in words per minute (the default is 250 WPM), and adjust the font size if you prefer. Click "Play" to start; words appear one at a time in the center of the screen. Use the pause and navigation buttons to control the pace. The tool automatically calculates the estimated reading time based on the total word count and the chosen speed.

Students who need to read large volumes of material in limited time, professionals who consume many reports and articles, and readers who want to expand their text processing capacity find RSVP an efficient complementary method. It is also useful for practicing reading in foreign languages, forcing a direct association between the written word and its meaning without falling back on rereading.

All processing occurs locally in the browser. No entered text is sent to servers, and no registration is required. Works on any device with a browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the tool free?

Yes, free and no sign-up required.

Is the text I paste sent to any server?

No. The text is processed entirely in your browser and never leaves your device.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, it works on phones and tablets. The word-by-word display is especially suited to smaller screens.

What is the highlighted letter in each word?

It is the Optimal Recognition Point (ORP), calculated approximately at the first third of each word. Fixing your gaze on this point helps the brain recognize the entire word instantly.

What speed is recommended to start?

250 WPM is a good starting point for those new to the method. Average silent reading speed is around 200–300 WPM. Increase gradually as you feel comfortable with comprehension.
