About this tool
The QR Code Reader decodes the content of any QR Code from an image saved on your device — without needing to point a camera in real time. It is useful when you receive a QR Code by email, message or screenshot and want to know what it contains before opening a link.
To use it, click the upload area and select the image containing the QR Code (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF are accepted). The tool displays a preview and attempts to decode it automatically. If a QR Code is detected, its content appears below. If the result is a URL, an external link icon lets you open it directly. A copy button makes it easy to transfer the text to another app.
The reader uses the browser's native BarcodeDetector API, available in Chrome, Edge and modern Android browsers. In browsers that do not support this API (such as Firefox and Safari), a warning message is shown.
This kind of tool is particularly valuable for verifying QR Codes before accessing them — a good security practice that prevents opening unknown links without knowing their destination. All processing is local: the image is never sent to any server.

Is my image sent to a server?
No. The image is processed entirely in your browser using the native BarcodeDetector API. No data is transmitted to external servers.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, in Android browsers that support the BarcodeDetector API, such as Chrome for Android. On iOS (Safari), this API is not yet supported.
Why can my browser not read the QR Code?
The BarcodeDetector API is not available in Firefox or Safari. Use Chrome or Edge for best results. If the QR Code is very small, blurry or low-contrast, detection may also fail.
Can I use this to read regular barcodes?
This tool is configured specifically for QR Codes. For other barcode formats, use the Barcode Generator tool in the same category, which works with Code 128.
