About this tool
Remove Background uses artificial intelligence to automatically detect and eliminate the background from any photo, leaving only the main subject or person with a transparent background. The result can be downloaded as a transparent PNG, ready for use anywhere the original image background is unwanted.
The first time you use the tool, the AI model (RMBG-1.4 by Bria AI, running via Transformers.js) is downloaded from HuggingFace at around 85 MB. After this initial download, the model is cached in the browser and subsequent runs are instant, even without an internet connection. Select an image, wait for processing (typically a few seconds), and download the background-free PNG.
Common use cases: removing the background from product photos for e-commerce, creating professional profile pictures with no background, isolating people or objects for compositing into other photos or presentations, preparing stickers and assets for use in design apps, and adapting photos to custom backgrounds for video calls.
