About this tool
EXIF Viewer reads and displays all EXIF metadata embedded in JPEG images directly in the browser. This metadata is information recorded by the camera or smartphone at the moment a photo is taken, and can include the equipment model, date and time, exposure settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed), resolution, and even the GPS coordinates of where the photo was captured.
To view it, simply select a JPEG image. The tool displays a table with all found tags and their values. If the image contains geolocation data, a link to view the exact point on a map appears.
Typical uses: verifying the actual capture date of a photo for legal or journalistic purposes, checking whether location metadata is present before publishing an image, identifying the camera model used to reproduce photography settings, auditing metadata in images received from third parties, and investigating technical information in photos for forensic or investigative journalism contexts.
Reading is done by the ExifReader library, which processes the file locally in the browser. No information is transmitted to external servers.
